DETROIT - Michigan winter showed Detroit motorists why it deserves respect Thursday.

Although blustery and cold, the weather at first glance didn't seem extremely treacherous.

But numerous witnesses say that all changed briefly and significantly when a snow squall passed over I-75 in the area of Springwells and Dearborn causing whiteout conditions and near zero visibility.
