Attorneys:

James H. Koning has been in practice for over 30 years, is an AV rated lawyer, and has litigated cases throughout the country in both state and federal courts. Mr. Koning has been involved in many multi-million dollar cases.

Mr. Koning has been a lecturer on products liability law at the Western Michigan University College of Engineering since 1984.

Mr. Koning has co-authored many legal treatises, including "Advanced Product Liability:The Drug Case," "Michigan Law of Damages" and "Michigan Causes of Action Form Book". Mr. Koning specializes in complex civil litigation, wrongful death law and general litigation.

Jim is recognized as an "AV rated" lawyer, which is the highest rating that a lawyer can get, according to Martindale-Hubbell lawyer rating service. James H. Koning has also been recognized for a third consecutive year as a "Super Lawyer" by the Michigan Super Lawyers Publication.

 

Jonathan N. Jilek served as law clerk to the Honorable Richard Ryan Lamb of the 9th Judicial Circuit prior to entering private practice.

Jon concentrates his practice in complex civil practice and handles serious personal injury cases on a daily basis.  His passion is representing injured victims.   

He also concentrates his practice in the area of liquor liability, representing individuals and entities with liquor license transfers, acquisitions and in liquor hearings and appeals.  He has authored articles in the Michigan Beverage Journal including, "Michigan Court Re-Examines Obligations of Licensees in Dram Shop Cases" (2004) and " Court of Appeals Rules Police Officers, Firefighters May Sue a Licensee" (2005).

For a third consecutive year, Jon is recognized as a Rising Star by the Michigan Super Lawyers & Rising Stars listing. Only 2.5 percent of all lawyers in Michigan are listed in the Super Lawyers publication. Jon Jilek was recognized as the 2008 Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year by the Michigan State Bar.

Susan Collins is a 1997 graduate of Allegan High School and a 2001 graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. During her studies at WMU, Susan interned for the Honorable Richard Alan Enslen at the United States District Court - Western District of Michigan.

Susan is also a member of NALS (the association for legal professionals) and is currently serving as Vice President and Membership Chair of NALS of Greater Kalamazoo. Susan has been a legal assistant and paralegal since 2001.

Susan was awarded "NALS of Greater Kalamazoo Legal Professional of the Year” in 2009.
